Technical Information
Tamen Amine 18AP is typically used as a starting material for the production of cationic and amphoteric surfactants, leveling agents, wood preservatives, oil recovery agents, amine oxides, corrosion inhibitors and personal care/cosmetic ingredients.
When neutralized with any of a range of organic acids, such as α or β-hydroxy acids, the amine salt of Tamen Amine 18AP finds application in cosmetic formulations as the primary “Palm-Free” ingredient for “Quat-Free” conditioners, finishing, or cream rinses. Amine salts are typically less substantive to hair than quaternary ammonium compounds for light conditioning and reduced conditioner buildup. Blended with a proper co-emulsifier, such as cetearyl alcohol, both opaque and pearly conditioner formulations can be economically developed.
