Technical Information
GBS™ 8:2A is an EPA registered End-Use-Product (EUP) containing a synergistic blend of glutaraldehyde, and n-alkyl (50%C14, 40%C12, 10%C16) dimethylbenzyl ammonium chloride in water. It is specifically designed and optimized for control of sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) that contribute to souring, the production of sulfide, and abiotic corrosion in Oil Field and Cooling Water systems, Gas Production and Transmission Pipelines and systems. The combination of glutaraldehyde and quaternary ammonium chlorides (QAC’s) has been shown to be effective in controlling sulfatereducing bacteria when compared with the individual components alone. In Oil and Gas recovery operations where sulfide control is needed, use of GBS 8:2A allows for an overall reduction in biocide use, reducing environmental impact while achieving increased production throughput with overall biocide use cost reduction.
